Sea Anemone

We had to take a trip to the St. Louis zoo and takes pictures there. While, the weather was not the greatest there were still animals to see. Inside the children's area they have fish tanks and other animals and some that you can pet. While there I took the two pictures on of a meerkat that reminded me of Timon from The Lion King. The other picture is of a sea anemone in a salt water aquarium which i would like to have one day.

Bellow are some of the things that you can find the zoo's reptile house. The green tree pythons lives in trees and are a beautiful green color to blend in and hid in the trees from predators. The eastern diamondback rattlesnake is one of the deadliest snakes in North America and many people and fear these snakes because of this. It is able to live with a tortoise just fine. The tomato frog, while not poisonous to humans, secrete a toxin that cause an allergic reaction in humans.

Many of the animals were put away to protect them from the cold and had special indoor cages like the toucan bellow which comes from a tropical environment. Some of the animals were unfazed by the freezing temperatures like this peacock that was walking around on the snow looking for food. Male peacocks are the ones that have the extravagant feathers that attract the females.

The zoo also had an insectarium that had many different types of bugs. they also had a room where they had butterflies flying around. this was really cool because there is a possibility that one might land on you. In the right bottom picture is a blue morpho butterfly which is called this because it has has brown camouflage to hide from predators. The two butter flies on the left just looked cool sitting there so i took a picture of them.
